Shoe-In

Maintaining good grades in school is a challenge for students if they are struggling at home, couch surfing, living out of a car, or on the streets. In Georgetown, school counselors are able to provide low income kids with valuable resources to help in these types of situations: mentoring, tutoring, after school care, school supplies, and clothing. Here lies an opportunity for you to help out.

An orientation will be provided at the beginning of each shift. Fluent Spanish speakers are a plus! Wear comfy shoes as there will be a lot of standing.

In order to ensure the safety of students, Georgetown Independent School District requires ALL volunteers to pass a criminal history (regardless of if they have had one from their place of employment) background check. GISD is authorized by state law to obtain criminal history record information on individuals who intend to serve as volunteers for the district (Texas Education Code 22.083).

This needs to be done as soon as possible (there is NO CHARGE) in order to volunteer on Saturday. ALL volunteers may register through http://www.georgetownisd.org/ click on “family center” and scroll down to “volunteers” or http://www.georgetownisd.org/career/volunteers.htm
